Rebuilding the Closet and the Spirit: A Journey of Alignment

In life, there are moments when we are called to rebuild—not just spiritually but in the seemingly mundane aspects of our daily existence. Recently, I’ve been drawn to the idea of rebuilding my wardrobe. What started as a practical decision to embrace natural fabrics—cotton, wool, and linen—quickly revealed itself as a metaphor for something deeper: the rebuilding of my inner life.
The Closet as a Reflection of the Soul
Our clothing tells a story. It reflects our values, priorities, and even our sense of self. I realized my wardrobe had become a mix of mismatched pieces that no longer felt like me. Similarly, in my spiritual life, there were areas that felt cluttered or out of alignment with my purpose.
This parallel between the external and internal became impossible to ignore. As I sorted through my clothing, deciding what to keep, donate, or replace, I asked myself the same questions about my spiritual practices and relationships:
What still serves me?
What is holding me back?
What am I ready to embrace anew?
Choosing Natural Fabrics, Choosing Authenticity
My decision to wear more natural fabrics felt like a commitment to authenticity. Cotton, wool, and linen remind me of God’s creation—simple, pure, and enduring. These fabrics breathe, move, and adapt, much like the spirit when aligned with divine purpose.

In rebuilding both my wardrobe and my spirit, I’ve embraced three principles:
Clarity: What am I keeping? Why?
In the closet, this meant removing pieces that no longer fit my lifestyle or values.
Spiritually, it meant shedding old habits and beliefs that no longer align with who I am becoming.
Simplicity: Less is more.
I am choosing timeless, versatile pieces that resonate with my aesthetic: Parisian, Audrey Hepburn-inspired, cool professor.
Spiritually, I’ve recommitted to practices that center me—prayer, silence, and Scripture.
Sustainability: Investing in what lasts.
In my wardrobe, this means seeking quality over quantity, favoring natural, durable fabrics.
Spiritually, this looks like nurturing relationships and habits that endure through the seasons of life.
A Call to Rebuild
Rebuilding, whether a closet or a soul, is a sacred act. It’s a chance to honor who we’ve been, release what no longer serves us, and step into a future that reflects God’s vision for our lives.
So, I invite you to consider: What in your life—your home, your relationships, your spiritual practices—needs rebuilding? What’s one step you can take today?
As for me, I’m curating a wardrobe that feels as authentic as the life I’m called to lead, piece by piece, prayer by prayer.
Let’s rebuild together.
